“I want to live darkly and richly in my femaleness.”
Anaïs Nin, Delta of Venus
This series of works revisits the Japanese erotic imagery representing women in a love embrace with octopuses, most notably "The Dream of the Fisherman's wife" by Hokusai, to explore the sprawling nature of women's love, their metaphoric associations with shapeshifting sea creatures and dark femininity.
